Never been to a Toby Carvery before so was looking forward to the experience, especially as it was a family members 50th. Not a good start with one of the party members slipping on the ice in the car park resulting in them being concussed and vomiting. Maybe, the car park should have been cleared of the ice, but not sure what the health and safety and liability issues are for this. Anyhow, staff were friendly, tables were ready with a nice birthday card from the restaurant and balloons at the head table. Seating including a high chair were already in place. Great selection of vegetables, mashed potatoes, cauliflower cheese, runner beans, peas, red cabbage, sweet carrots, choice of roast potatoes, one lot roasted in beef dripping, that were constantly being replaced with new and hot ones. There was also macaroni cheese, stuffing, Yorkshire pudding, beef gravy and vegan gravy, plus all the usual condiments, apple sauce, cranberry, mint sauce, horseradish, English and wholegrain mustard. The meat choices were turkey, beef, pork and gammon, with lamb only being available on Sunday. We were all disappointed with the thickness of the slices of meat and the amount of fat on each slice. I was also told the gammon was far too salty. Bar staff were polite and got served quickly. Refillable Pepsi drinks are available. Not a bad experience, but wouldn't go again due to the quality of the meat.
We love Toby at Lower Early. Get a wonderful 3 meat carvery at very reasonable prices. Nice atmosphere, and every 10th visit we eat free! Plus plenty of offers throughout the year like kids eat free.
Always good food, reasonably priced. Friendly and helpful staff. Good, fast WiFi is a bonus too. The carvery is great value during the week! Nice range of traditional veg. I love it!
Good carvery with lots of meat choice. They had pork, gammon, , lamb and beef on offer. There's macaroni too which might appease the kids if they aren't bothered about the meat, although it was a little soft (bit like the Heinz tinned stuff). The potato gratin tasted weird, as if there was some kind of blue cheese on it . Everything else was spot on
We love to go the Toby. Took the family and grandchildren. They loved the food. The staff always makes you feel welcome. Always come away with full tummies. Sometimes I can manage to eat all my dinner and then other times I can't. We can say this is one of our favourite places to eat.
